Shepherd's Pie with Root Mash

Ingredients:

  • 500g jar Homepride Shepherd’s Pie Cook-In-Sauce
  • 500g lean minced beef
  • 3 medium potatoes, peeled and halved
  • 3 carrots peeled and cut into small chunks
  • 2 parsnips peeled and cut into large chunks
  • 25g butter
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C (gas mark 5/ fan 170°C).
  2. Place potatoes, carrots and parsnips in a saucepan, cover with cold water. Add teaspoon salt and boil for 20 minutes until vegetables are soft. Add a small knob of butter, some salt and pepper and mash.
  3. Brown the mince in a non stick frying pan. Stir in sauce and pour into a 1.2L (2pt) oven proof dish.
  4. Top evenly with the mash. Place in the centre of your pre heated oven and cook for 30-35 minutes until the mash is golden brown.
  5. Serve with fresh vegetables and enjoy!
