Steak and Ale Pie

Ingredients:

  • 1x500g jar Homepride Beef and Ale Sauce
  • 1x454g pack lean diced beef for casserole
  • 150g Button Mushrooms (halved)
  • 30ml (2tbsp) Vegetable oil
  • 340g Ready Rolled Puff Pastry and milk to glaze

Instructions:

  1. Heat the oil in the bottom of a large sauce pan.
  2. Add the beef and brown all over. Remove with a slotted spoon.
  3. Add the mushrooms and sautéed for 3-5 minutes until cooked. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.
  4. Return the beef to the pan and add the Beef and Ale sauce. Bring to a gentle simmer, cover and cook for 1hr 15 minutes. At the end of cooking, stir in the mushrooms.
  5. Preheat oven to 200C/Gas6.
  6. Pour the sauce into a pie dish. Brush brim of pie dish with milk and cover pie with pastry. Trim spare pastry and press edges to seal pie. Brush pastry with milk to glaze.
  7. Bake pie in oven for 30 minutes until pastry is golden.
  8. Great served with green vegetables and buttered new potatoes.
